Western North America Ag and Food HR Roundtable
May 3 - 5, 2010 • Monterey, CA

After a successful introductory event in 2009, which brought together more than 60 human resource professionals and university/college staff within the Western North America agriculture and food field, the need for a venue to continue to connect this group and discuss high interest issues regarding recruitment and retention within the industry became apparent. AgCareers.com is pleased to be holding the second Western North America Ag and Food HR Roundtable.

The conference schedule contains a variety of sessions including: The Economy's Impact on Recruitment and Retention within Agriculture and Food, Workforce Planning for Success, and Attracting Talent for a Plentiful Pipeline, The Use of Immigrant Labor as a Source of Talent, Building a Sustainable Workforce from Within, and much more. The program has been submitted to receive SHRM credits.

This year's guest speakers include Karen Timmins, vice president of human resources at Western Growers; John Schmeiser, executive vice president of the Canada West Equipment Dealers Association; and Stella Cosby, director of resourcing and organizational development for Agrium, Inc.; as well as many others.

Beyond the educational sessions, last year’s participants said that the networking that happened at the event was invaluable.

“The facilitation of an event that brings together human resource professionals, career services staff and relevant association representatives does not happen often,” said Erika Osmundson, marketing and communications manager for AgCareers.com. “The opportunity to come together and talk about what is really happening within the scope of employment, and then share ideas on how to overcome obstacles are how collectively we can move the industry ahead.”
