Overview

A marketing analyst is responsible for analyzing markets and helping companies strategize ways for them to be more competitive. Using research marketing tools, they conduct market research, track different kinds of data and identify patterns. Marketing analysts make recommendations related to research findings using their insights to suggest new products, markets or services.

What responsibilities will I have?

 

  • Use research marketing tools to conduct market research
  • Provide comprehensive analysis on data acquired
  • Develop and evaluate methods for collecting data
  • Interpret data and make recommendations
  • Create detailed reports and presentations for a variety of audiences
  • Gather and analyze statistical data using modern and traditional methods
  • Draft questionnaires, polls, surveys and other data collection resources
  • Compile data related to competitor products such as pricing, sales and marketing methodologies
  • Remain updated on market trends and new research methods
  • Make recommendations related to research findings
  • Identify potential new products, markets or services
  • Develop studies that test the impact of decisions being considered
  • Forecast and track industry marketing and sales trends based on collected data
  • List potential companies that your organization may want to work with

 

What education and training is required?

A bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, marketing, statistics, or a related field is required to become a marketing analyst.

To pursue a career as an Market Analyst :

The following high school courses are recommended: agricultural education, mathematics, statistics, business and personal finance.

Where can I work?

Marketing analysts typically work for medium to large-scale agricultural, food production, seed and animal production companies. They also work for advertising or marketing agencies to assist companies looking to enter new markets.
