Overview
Location/plant managers or superintendents are responsible for seeing the daily operations of manufacturing and processing facilities, such as those that produce animal feed for livestock. They monitor production outcomes, quantity and quality of the products produced to ensure customer satisfaction and food safety compliance. Additionally, superintendents look to improve the efficiency of operations by developing tracking production and safety metrics.

What education and training is required?
A bachelor's degree in agricultural business, engineering, food science, animal science, poultry science or a related field is needed. Some roles may also be obtainable with an associate degree. However, experience working in a manufacturing environment for multiple years is a requirement before taking on a managerial role.
