Job Description:

The Merchandiser Assistant Manager has primary responsibility to ensure the MA team is performing tasks effectively, forecasting workflow needs/resources, and ensuring business reports are accurate.? In addition, the MA Manager will provide organizational expertise in developing, facilitating, and supervising training programs to enhance the effectiveness of our MA team members and increase consistency in transaction processing. This role will identify training and development needs, helping MA team members develop skills and knowledge and provide oversight and direction of the team’s workflow management. The MA Manager will also be expected to work in close partnership with the Finance team, Business Unit team and other MA Managers in managing workflow for the MA group, participating in recruiting processes and providing input on employee performance and annual achievement goals/objectives. The MA Manager will act as a subject matter expert to coach and train MA team members on proper control procedures including accounts payable, accounts receivable, control report review and all company policies and procedures.? The MA Manager is required to report all perceived control policy or procedure concerns to Finance.? 



  • Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close functions.

  • Prepares and enters journal entries.

  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts of various complexity on a monthly basis.

  • Participates in the development and maintenance of accounting and reporting policies and procedures.

  • Identifies and implements process improvements.

  • Supports internal and external audits.

  • May lead projects, typically directly related to scope of role, while also actively participating in broader scope projects

  • Applies judgment using knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others.

  • Applies knowledge and, experience to solve problems within a narrow scope and limited risk of error.

  • Works independently within established guidelines.

  • Serve as primary resource for Operations and other Finance personnel for financial reports and data requests.

  • Be a business partner with Sales, Operations and supply chain to drive business growth. Contribute to the development of region strategy by challenging assumptions from a financial perspective and providing value-add analysis and guidance.

  • Participate in and observe recurring inventory measure ups at Jerome facilities.

  • Provide book quantities and reconciling items (timing differences, etc) for all measure ups.

  • Ensure that all stock adjustments for inventory related to measure ups are posted timely.

  • Post other stock adjustments as needed: shrink, house empty, etc.

  • Contribute to the development of the Feed Ingredients Inventory management policy.

  • Supervise day to day activity of onsite MA team in Jerome and MA(s) working remotely.

  • Become proficient in all systems (CTRM, PMM, etc) utilized by MA team and provide guidance in all areas.

  • Enable and assist communication among MA team, onsite Operations and remote Operations team members.

  • Review daily reports and output for all BU and provide feedback to MA team to address issues identified in reports.

  • Remove impediments faced by the team.

  • Be effective in influence


About You



  • 2+ years of college experience, high school diploma or GED?

  • 2-3 years of industry experience. Knowledge of buying/selling of commodities?

  • Customer service orientation?

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks?

  • Ability to solve complex problems in a timely manner?

  • Effective, clear, concise communication skills?

  • Strong math and analytical skills?

  • Advanced PC expertise, including the MS Office Suite applications; this will include familiarity with standard databases, system maintenance and operation

  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently as needed?

  • Ability to effectively lead people to achieve business goals??


Preferred?? 



  • Bachelor’s degree in business related area?

  • 3+ years supervising experience preferred??
