ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for an experienced field scientist to join our dedicated R&D team in Australia. In this role you will manage field trial programs to characterize the field performance of new crop protection, plant health and biological products, in-line with technical objectives established by the company. You will be responsible for authoring and delivering scientific biology dossiers to support registration of new products and label extensions. You will also be part of a cross-functional team to provide specific information on case builds for new projects and provide input and guidance to the positioning and establishment of new products in Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Accountable for complete management of specific field trial programs. This includes protocol design using specific Corteva trial methods, regulatory permitting, sample ordering, trial execution, and the creation and presentation of data summaries. Trials may be carried out via approved external contract researchers or internally by Corteva field researchers. At times you may also assist with field trial execution and assessments for internal trials.

* Represents R&D on cross functional teams to define local biological questions, complete program attributes, GAP development and contributes to business case building as a key source of technical and industry knowledge. Proposes technical positioning to the sales and marketing functions in line with global strategy, based on local needs and requirements in Australia.

* Organizes local field tours upon request of biology leadership.

* Summarizes data from internal and external trials and provides key observations and recommendations on product performance to Biology Leaders and local cross functional teams.

* Upon completion of the internal data review process, translates trial data and leverages technical and agronomic knowledge to author biology dossiers (Part 8s) for product registration.

* Measures and documents field performance, understands resistance issues, and identifies trends and issues relative to current and emerging competition to Corteva's product portfolio.

* Represents Corteva at relevant academic and government institutes in Australia and monitors emerging trends and technology related to agriculture.

* Provides input on the critical assessment and prioritization of technical needs and activities essential to the implementation of business strategy.

* Meets all requirements of Corteva Field Science SOPs and completes all internal Safety Standard documentation as required. Meets all administrative requirements, including resource, time and expense reporting.

* Works with Regulatory specialists to ensure that all trial work is done in compliance with local regulations and APVMA permits.

* May serve as focal point representing R&D on various projects either locally, regionally or globally. QualificationsKEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES FOR THIS ROLE:

* Tertiary qualification (BSc, MSc, PhD) in agricultural, biological or plant health sciences with at least 5 years' experience in crop protection and plant health disciplines.

* Broad scientific and agronomic understanding.

* Strong project leadership.

* Excellent understanding of trial design, statistical methods, data analysis and presentation.

* Proven ability to write accurate scientific biology dossiers to support product registration and positioning.

* Versatile individual who can solve practical problems and is committed to a strong safety and stewardship culture.

* Ability to interact with growers and to establish effective relationships with contract research organizations, industry, and external stakeholders.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

* Travel will be required to maintain and establish relationships with Contract Research Organizations and industry stakeholders, visit key trial sites to confirm data integrity/performance and to conduct virtual/in-person field tours. Travel may also be required for commercial team support in attending cross functional meetings and providing technical input.
