Overview
An environmental educator is responsible for designing educational materials that engage youth, teachers and the public about nature and environmental issues. They will often lead environmentally based presentations and field tours to help people understand nature through hands-on learning. To do this, environmental educators will develop a variety of materials such as blogs, newsletters and fliers.

What education and training is required?
A bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, environmental studies, agricultural communications, environmental science, natural resource management or a related field is required. Depending on the position, environmental educators may need to be credentialed to teach by the state.
To pursue a career as an Environmental Educator :
The following high school courses are recommended: agricultural education, public speaking, communications, environmental science, natural resources, chemistry and biology.
Where can I work?
Environmental educators are typically employed by non-profit organizations, schools and nature reserves.
