Technical Lead, Soil Health Lead

You will lead our organization's strategic efforts in advancing soil health within our regenerative agriculture strategy. You will oversee the development and execution of priority projects and partnerships aimed at enhancing scientific understanding of soil health, promoting soil health awareness, and advocating for science-based practices within the framework of regenerative agriculture. This pivotal role involves providing strategic direction, leading interdisciplinary teams, fostering collaborations, and driving innovation to safeguard and rejuvenate natural and working lands.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Technical Lead, Soil Health Lead, are to:

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all soil research and conservation initiatives, including the development and management of priority projects and partnerships aimed at advancing soil health and regenerative agriculture;
  • Lead and guide the soils program portfolio, collaborating with R&D and product teams to ensure alignment with organizational objectives;
  • Provide scientific direction and vision for the company's soil program, working closely with partners to conduct research, inform management decisions, and effectively communicate scientific findings to diverse audiences;
  • Drive the advancement of our soil program by overseeing existing projects and spearheading the development and implementation of new research initiatives that align with the company's objectives;
  • Lead proposal development for soil-related projects and facilitate meetings and workshops with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with company goals;
  • Cultivate and maintain scientific partnerships, facilitating collaboration with external stakeholders to advance soil research objectives;
  • Represent the company and present research findings at scientific conferences, as well as through written reports and presentations for partners and peers;
  • Develop science-based products and strategies that contribute to the success of our business ventures, translating research findings into actionable insights;
  • Collaborate with technical teams in Seeds and Crop Protection to leverage synergies across Bayer product portfolio.

 

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in soil science, agronomy, environmental science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Proven leadership and experience in managing soil research projects and partnerships within the agricultural sector;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative research strategies addressing key challenges in soil health and conservation;
  • Proficiency in proposal writing, project management, and budget administration;
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently, driving projects forward within a team environment;
  • Expert knowledge of advanced soil science, soil ecology, and soil biogeochemistry principles, with proficiency in statistical theory and analysis;
  • Experience working with conservation organizations and ecological research agencies on natural and working lands initiatives;
  • Proficiency in scientific research methods and techniques related to soil biology, ecology, and agroecosystems;
  • Knowledge on sampling, analyzing, and interpreting biotic and abiotic components of soil, generating actionable insights for resource conservation and management;
  • Track record of success in developing technical content for varied audiences and purposes, including manuscript publication, proposal leadership, and project reporting.
