JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Property Manager
SUPERVISES: Custodian, Summer Maintenance Staff, Property Maintenance Volunteers
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
REMUNERATION: Approx. $22 Hourly
The Property Manager oversees the planning, coordination and implementation of all WindReach Farm property management and maintenance related activities; ensures that the WindReach Farm site, facilities, and equipment are consistently well maintained, safe, clean, and meet the accessibility needs of the various program participants and visitors to the Farm; supervises the Custodian as well as any summer maintenance staff and property management Volunteers; plans, supervises and manages any new and/or existing construction or renovation projects; and completes the majority of the routine and preventative maintenance and repairs, around the Farm.
JOB SUMMARY
ANNUAL AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE:
- Oversee maintenance and cleaning supplies are organized, secured, and well stocked.
- Overseeing snow removal.
- Oversee grass cutting and groundskeeping.
- Prepare and monitor annual, long-term, and short-term plans for the management of WindReach Farm property and facilities.
- Keep accurate and detailed maintenance records of all electrical, mechanical and water systems at the Farm.
- Keep an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all tools, equipment, vehicles, buildings, roads, pathways, and other Farm features including a current state of repair.
- Assist in the preparation of and monitoring of budgets relating to property and facilities maintenance.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
- Plan, supervise and manage existing construction/renovation projects.
- Identify future construction/renovation projects and bring them to the attention of the Executive Director.
SAFETY:
- Ensure that the grounds and facilities are consistently safe and welcoming.
- Ensure that all participants and their support staff are aware of and abide by all safety guidelines and policies.
- Check activity areas and equipment for safety hazards and cleanliness.
- Being on call for, and responding to, all emergencies or potential emergencies in a calm, professional and appropriate manner, within WindReach Farm’s policies and procedures and the scope of their professional training.
- Drafting vehicle and equipment training documentation, including safety check documents, and overseeing their implementation.
SUPERVISION:
- Recruit, train, and supervise the Custodian and summer maintenance staff.
- Train and supervise property management Volunteers.
- Establish an annual performance plan for the Custodian and monitor progress towards goals.
- Complete performance evaluations of the Custodian and any summer maintenance staff.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
- Perform all other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with other WindReach Farm programming/special events as needed.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Project management and managerial experience.
- Exposure to farms and farming related activities.
- Experience with safety protocols and procedures.
- Exposure to populations with diverse support needs an asset.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience working in a non-profit or charity organization an asset.
- Current/valid police record check.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Property maintenance and general repairs
- Electrical/plumbing knowledge
- Water sampling
- Experience driving heavy machinery (standard)
- Landscaping/snow removal
- Animal handling an asset
