As a Sr. Principal Technical Sales Specialist, your expertise will allow you to deliver customer-centered products and solutions by collaborating with cross-functional business partners including sales, production, procurement, laboratory services, and food safety/quality. Leveraging your technical skills and working alongside sales, you’ll make a direct impact on the business to help our livestock, pet, and aqua partners flourish. Along the way, you’ll be guided by our deep-rooted culture and have the support and tools you need to do your job, learn, grow, and succeed.

 

What you’ll do:

As a Sr. Principal Technical Sales Specialist, you will translate technical data into useful sales materials, support sales in calling on customer accounts, coordinate customer trials, and bring new products/services to market as needed to provide value-added solutions for strategic customers. You will have a direct impact and accountability for business success.

 

You’ll sweep us off our feet if:

  • You have expertise in pet food formulation and nutrition.
  • You have prior experience with utilizing yeast products in feed formulations.
  • You have a strong network in the pet food industry.
  • You are an excellent technical writer who can translate technical data into sales/marketing savvy messaging.
  • You are scientifically curious and can develop, execute, and draw conclusions from research.
  • You are detail-oriented and able to manage several projects at a time.
  • You are tenacious, dedicated, and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition.

 

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Working alongside sales to build out prospect lists and customer sales strategies.
  • Launching new products and/or current products into new customers through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Collaborating with FSQR to solve quality issues/customer complaints.
  • Validating the efficacy of the current ingredient portfolio.
  • Organizing and executing customer collaboration studies.
  • Collaborating with Marketing to write technical bulletins and sales support documents.
  • Conducting technical training for sales and cross-functional partners.
  • Executing plant trials and product and scale-ups.
  • Translating customer/sales feedback into product development opportunities
  • Being part of sales conversations to support technical topics.
  • Providing field support for onsite customer projects.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S., MS, or PhD in an animal/food science field (animal nutrition, food science, chemical engineering, etc.)
  • 6+ years of R&D or technical sales experience
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Up to 30% travel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of pet food formulations and nutrition
  • Knowledge of industry sectors (mass brands, specialty brands, co-mans)
  • Ability to translate scientific data into sales documents, marketing tools
  • Ability to lead projects autonomously and assist in commercialization

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $116,500 - $163,030. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.  This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
