Job Description:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for partnering with Plant leadership and the Operations Team to develop and implement health and safety programs at the Goodland Crush facility that are aligned to the Company’s objectives.  The position will provide technical expertise related to environmental compliance.  This position will be responsible for performing compliance and record-keeping administrative tasks.  This position will require knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines. Will be expected to actively assist in continuous improvement initiatives and will act with urgency to assist with determining sustainable solutions to issues. 


 


Job Responsibilities



  • Partner with the Operations team and EH&S Business Partner to enhance our safety culture of proactive, behavior-based approach to Health & Safety, with a strong emphasis on Personal Responsibility, Incident Prevention, and compliance.  Perform Health & Safety applicability determinations, compliance audits, and risk assessments to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of Regulatory and Company requirements.

  • Lead the administration, implementation and monitoring of safety and security policies, programs, and procedures.  This includes managing the Industrial Hygiene Program, assisting with conducting assessments, sampling, and reporting.

  • Ensure required OSHA Injury and Illness record keeping and reporting requirements are met and maintained as appropriate and return to work programs are in line with ADA and Work Compensation laws.

  • Create and coordinate topics and content for JSA development, safety meetings, safety training, and safety policies reviewed as part of New Hire Orientation and existing Scoular employees.

  • Schedule and perform EHS facility assessments and risk assessments to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of Regulatory and Organizational requirements. 

  • Assist with the implementation, maintaining, and training of the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program.


Required



  • An Associate of Science in Safety, Engineering or related field is required.

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in same disciplines is preferred.

  • 3-5 Years of experience as a safety supervisor / manager, OSHA Inspector, or safety auditor is preferred.

  • Ability to travel – anticipate <10% travel to facility locations will be needed.

  • Prior experience managing site emergency response team a plus.

  • Must show initiative and ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing workplace.

  • Data collection and analytical skills to help with incident trends and data collection.

  • Prior experience with DOT compliance programs is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety Health Administration (O.S.H.A.) requirements.

  • Experience working with hexane at a crush facility preferred.
