The Merchant is a commodity trading position located in Minneapolis, MN.? This position is part of a local Trade Team that is focused on the origination of soybeans through company owned assets along the Eastern Seaboard for export to international markets.? The role will require management and build out of customer relationships externally, and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across an internationally diverse team.? The successful candidate will obtain a developed understanding of commodity market dynamics, contract management, facility optimization, and logistical flows via truck, rail, and container shipping.? 

• Responsible for purchasing soybeans and grain from producers and commercial grain companies in an assigned region. 


• Formulate and articulate thoughts and insights on commodity markets to both internal and external stakeholders.  


• Lead the execution strategy and weekly planning for assigned facilities.  


• Develop working knowledge of full end to end supply chain dynamics consisting of truck, rail, and container conveyance modes.  


• Develop and maintain an extensive and varied business relationship network.  


• Provide high level customer service with producers and service providers conveying market information, business transaction support, and logistical coordination.   


• Proficient in Scoular systems, tools, and reports (CTRM Platform, Compu weight, TMS, etc). 


• At the direction of their manager, add sales customers to their contract list as market familiarity increases. 


• Contract execution and management for both futures and forward structured contracts.   


• Ensure the business unit operates within Scoular assigned risk limits.  

About You: 

• College degree in business related field or equivalent experience.


• Exceptional customer service skills and relationship building capability.

• Ability to travel, as needed.

Preferred

• 3+ years of merchandising experience.


• Demonstrated understanding of grain markets, hedging and commodity flows.


• Knowledge of the agricultural industry’s trading standards and procedures.


• Demonstrated aptitude in accounting and financial practices and procedures.
