Position Summary

Reporting to the Canadian Sales Manager, this role will reach business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer sites. This individual will develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and continually maintain a professional image of the company. They will also be involved in field trials of Stokes product.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sales and service of Stokes Seeds products
  • Lead the growth of Stokes Seeds’ network of customers in the assigned territory
  • Call on growers and present our products, create sales, provide solutions, and solve issues
  • Collaborate with Canadian Sales Manager to develop the customer base, serve existing customers, and attract new customers
  • Identify opportunities/risks and contribute to marketing plans to address
  • Establishes, maintains, and collects data from product trials
  • Responsible for trialing of pre-commercial products and identifying proper product fits for the territory
  • Work with breeder-producer suppliers in identifying new products and marketplace opportunities
  • Inspect variety trials and customer field crops under Canadian weather and field conditions
  • Assist in events in the territory (tradeshows, field days, sales meetings, etc.)
  • Maintain expense budgets in alignment with regional objectives
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary education in agriculture and/or business preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in sales and marketing
    • Vegetable seed industry preferred
  • Agriculture experience/background
  • Basic understanding of the growing, packing, and marketing of commercial produce
  • Must be fluent in English, speaking and writing
  • French language skills are an asset
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing is required
  • Satisfactory Criminal Clearance Letter required
  • A proven customer relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional and assertive with strong communication skills; verbal, written, and active listening
  • Excellent sales skills; gains trust, establishes business objectives, identifies customer needs, explores solutions, develops action plans, and overcomes objection through negotiation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and preferably Business Central
  • Ability to utilize available technology to enhance sales and service effectiveness
