ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Employer: Norstar Industries Ltd. (Norstar AG)
  • Reports to: Sales Coordinator
  • Coordinates with: Sales Coordinator and other Sales Representatives

 

POSITION SUMMARY (2 Positions)

An AG Sales Representative at Norstar manages and drives sales within a designated territory. This role involves fostering relationships with existing customers, seeking new business opportunities, and promoting Norstar's products and services to farmers, growers, and retailers.

 

TERRITORY COVERED (2 Positions)

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for the following territory:

  • Primary Territory: Vegreville, Vermillion, Lethbridge
  • Temporary Coverage: Camrose West (for maternity leave) opportunity to extend position, Wetaskiwin

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

  • Territory Management: Oversee sales activities and manage customer relationships within the assigned territory.
  • Customer Relations: Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers to ensure their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Business Development: Establish and nurture relationships with new retailers and growers in the district to expand Norstar's market presence.
  • Product Recommendations: Advise farmers on the appropriate Norstar products based on crop types and weather conditions.
  • Product Application Guidance: Provide expert guidance to farmers on the proper application of products considering varying environmental and crop-specific factors.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, enhancing retail and distribution partnerships.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with dispatch to ensure timely and efficient product delivery to customers.
  • Market Insight Communication: Gather and communicate market information to management, offering insights and recommendations based on active market knowledge.
  • CRM Utilization: Efficiently use the cloud-based CRM system to manage customer information, communications, and follow-ups.
  • Order Management: Accurately place product orders through the CRM system.
  • Event Participation: Organize, attend, and engage in grower/customer meetings, events, and trade shows to promote Norstar products.
  • Technical Presentations: Present technical agricultural information to groups of growers, individuals, supporting growers in crop production.
  • Industry Liaison: Build and maintain connections with relevant industry contacts.
  • Field Trials Support: Assist in promoting Norstar products through local field trials, providing recommendations based on trial results.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the company vehicle in a professional condition.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Norstar policies, AG industry regulations, and EH&S standards.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to share information and strategies, avoiding information silos and promoting a cohesive team environment.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USE

  • Office Equipment: Utilized for daily operations and communications, including a laptop, cell phone, printer, and other necessary items.
  • Company Vehicle

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

80% of work is customer facing

  • Office: For administrative tasks and communications.
  • Home Office: May work from home if the location is appropriate.
  • Field/During Drives: Regular travel within the territory to meet with customers, attend events, and perform other field-related duties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in agricultural sales or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of crop production and agricultural practices.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Some post-secondary in Agriculture considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems for customer management and order placement.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a company vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
