We offer high quality, sustainably grown mint leaf products sourced and manufactured in the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a dedicated Field Manager to join our team in Terrebonne, Central Oregon. Your primary responsibility will be to partner and develop grower relationships in the Pacific Northwest through your deep passion and expertise for the farms, their families, and our communities.

 

This role is onsite in Terrebonne, Oregon. Monthly travel will be required to the Pacific Northwest Farms for monitoring growth, quality, production, grower relationships, and training.

 

Grower Relations

 

  • Develop and maintain a quality grower base in multiple regions
  • Prepare and sign annual production contracts with growers to adequately fulfill sales demands
  • Act as the first point of contact for growers for all questions
  • Develop strong lines of communication with each grower specific to their operation including key employees/family members. Utilize preferred methods to keep in regular contact throughout the year.
  • Incorporate regular training of growers and key employees regarding CORE’s Environmental program covering key topics, including safety, purity, and sustainability.

 

Field Work and Recordkeeping

 

  • Maintain CORE’s field recordkeeping system to verify and record all significant production activities by grower and field.
  • Create and record detailed field information into the system monthly through the growing season for each contracted production field to ensure traceability to source of all CORE products
  • Oversee field production operations
  • Monitor weed, insect, and disease levels along with overall crop quality throughout the year
  • Manage and direct all pesticide and IPM applications and strategies
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regional chemical & fertilizer suppliers
  • Access chemical labels and details relating to rates, timing, weed lists, etc.
  • Take lead role in pre-harvest sampling and residue testing requests of all raw materials

 

Customer Relations

 

  • Develop relationships and open dialog with supply chain managers and field agronomists
  • Assist with annual customer tours involving visits to growing regions, fields, growers, research projects, plots, points of interest, etc.
  • Manage customer field record systems as requested. Take lead role in compliance with specific field management requirements and field audits
  • Investigate and provide background information with customers inquiries related to the quality of raw products
  • Understand and quickly access EU and US pesticide residue tolerance websites
  • Identify and take lead role in managing specific customer concerns regarding residues, toxic weeds, health risks, etc.

 

Research and Development

 

  • Identify new products, crops, processes, equipment and help develop strategies to determine potential value, efficiency, and feasibility
  • Assist with strategic crop development program and set up local trial plots
  • Develop and lead in building field related prototype equipment, processes, and methods that move good ideas into commercial production
  • Work with customers in confidential product and variety development projects
  • Test new chemical products and rates by setting up plots, recording application data/efficacy, and testing for residue
  • Work with customers to improve, modify, expand current pesticide application program in order' to address current field issues
  • Record and report R&D time and expenses

 

Volume/Inventory Management

 

  • Assist with strategic volume planning
  • Secure contracted production to fulfill sales/customer needs
  • Assist in lot selection to fill specific needs and production schedule
  • Create and regularly update yield projections by product type, grower, field

 

Qualifications

 

  • Four-year degree in a related major preferred but not required in lieu of direct experience
  • At least 5 years progressive experience working with full life cycle of crops and demonstrated strategic management of irrigated crops
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, outstanding leadership ability, and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a leadership role and direct involvement on the business side of the industry
  • Self-directed individual who leads projects to identify and implement solutions with team input
  • Ability to acquire and hold a valid US driver’s license and successfully pass vehicle insurance verification
  • Superior organizational and project management skills and experience leading and managing people.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and a general aptitude with software systems.
  • Must hold or immediately obtain Commercial Applicator’s license or Consultant’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Mechanical/fabrication skills
  • Class A commercial license/current DOT medical card
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to continuously work outdoors all day in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level.
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain both on foot and while aboard moving equipment.
  • Ability to get on and off various stationary and moving equipment.
  • Must wear corrective lenses if required/listed on driver’s license.
  • Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs.
