QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Three years related experience overseeing alfalfa hay farm operations – putting up hay, managing water, hay production and storage, etc.
- 5 years operational and management experience in the farming industry preferred
- Familiar with how farm equipment functions (pumps, hydraulics, electricity, compressors)
- Planning, scheduling and production management experience necessary
- Mechanical Experience with Hay Equipment, Swather, Ballers and Tractors
- Computer experience desired – full Microsoft Office Suite, Internet experience required at a minimum
- Agriculture, Ag Business, other related degrees desired
- Really Prefer Bi-Lingual Spanish - Spanish speaking skills highly desired

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Hay Manager for this California Ranch Operation. Hay Manager will manage the overall daily operations of this hay farm. Provides supervision and direction to staff. Responsible for purchasing tools, equipment and materials. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Directs the work of 8-10 employees. Reports to Farm Superintendent daily and may be considered the lead for a specific area or entire farming operation. Responsible and accountable for quality compliance, organic and environmental stewardship, inventory control, efficiencies with respect to labor, production, overhead and operational budget.
Apply a wide range of concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, and agriculture. Demonstrate clear integrity and a sense of ethics and responsibility to the farm and its employees on a daily basis, serving as a model for others. Manage relationships with neighbors and community leaders. Effectively implement, improve and reinforce the company’s environmental health and safety programs.
