Grasslands Recruitment Specialists is recruiting a full-time, Capital Equipment Sales Representative for a dynamic leader in the agricultural industry. With an established brand, solid market share and a rich legacy spanning decades, the team is looking to grow their business in SW Saskatchewan.

The primary objective of this Capital Equipment Sales Representative position is to present, promote and sell products and services (grain handling, drying, milling and storage systems, and swine production facilities) to existing and prospective customers. This is done by performing cost-benefit and needs analysis to meet the agriculture customers’ needs. Much of the role will require educating customers on how the company’s products or services can benefit them financially and professionally. A key to success in this role will be building a long-term strategy to ensure that trusting relationships are built, fostered, and maintained.

 

This Capital Equipment Sales Representative role pays a base salary of $70,000 plus commission with a guarantee to earn $100,000 in year one, plus vehicle, business expenses, and tools of the trade. Benefits are also included: medical, dental and RSP.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE EQUIPMENT SALES REPRESENTATIVE

This role is quite flexible, and every day can focus on different needs/tasks. Pre-planning will support one’s ability to complete a variety of tasks including prospecting, project site visits, building quotes, presenting quotes, closing sales and overall long-term customer relationship building efforts.

 

Needs discovery discussions followed by cost-benefit analysis of sustainable solutions help to educate customers and build solid arguments for products and project quotes.

 

The ability to forge ahead confidently with client relationships will take time; a large focus of the Capital Equipment Sales Representative role will be on the development of positive business and customer relationships. Responding quickly and appropriately to customer problems or complaints will be key to maximizing overall satisfaction and repeatable business.

 

Working with the other sales team members, the service department and others in the team will be a regular occurrence. Gathering information for quotes and project scheduling is important and ongoing; the team must work together for large projects to complete successfully.

 

 

Key deliverables include:

  • Discover and action sales leads; maintain and build territory
  • Maintain records on customer accounts and leads tracker
  • Relationship development with customers, internal teams, and external partners
  • Monitor industry competitors, new products, and market conditions
  • Attend industry meetings, sales events, and training sessions

 

 

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR THIS UNIQUE EQUIPMENT SALES REPRESENTATIVE OPPORTUNITY?

 

The ideal candidate profile includes:

  • Grade 12 education or GED equivalent; post-secondary education in agriculture is beneficial
  • Knowledge of livestock and/or grain and milling equipment is an asset
  • 1-2 + years previous experience in an agricultural retail sales role, particularly in capital goods sales
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on building rapport and customer retention
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strategic prospecting and negotiating skills
  • Well organized with strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Self-starter
  • Resiliency with ability to overcome objections
  • Attention to detail
