Position Purpose

This position is responsible for learning and developing skills associated with performing preventive maintenance, repairs, assisting with troubleshooting equipment and some project work.


Key Accountabilities

The apprentice will additionally be asked to do a variety of other routine duties such as shop cleanup, equipment changeovers, creating work orders and completing root cause analysis with corrective action reports.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Follow bakery safety and procedures to be in compliance with company policies
  • Set-up production lines and assist in changeovers as required
  • Perform routine preventative, proactive, corrective and emergency activities
  • Effectively use the SAP maintenance system to create work orders, complete PMs, and find parts
  • Must attend and be successful in the in-school portion of training as outlined by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities
  • Maintain accurate log book and daily shift reports
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
     

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
 

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communicator
  • Has demonstrated an interest in maintenance and taken part in self-improvement initiatives
  • Has good analytical skills and demonstrates ability to find solutions
  • Understands high sense of urgency to solving problems
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, work from heights and in tight spaces
  • Will be required to pass a mechanical aptitude test as a part of the selection process
     

Required

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must attend and be successful in the in school portion of training as outlined by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities
     

Preferred
 

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in maintenance

  • ASPIRE BAKERIES Limited is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80
     

degrees Fahrenheit depending on the department
 

  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is
     

running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
 

  • Depending on position, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and
     

respirators are available if required
