What you will do:

The Farm Store Intern will be a summer position for a duration of 12-16 weeks (32 hours/week). The goal is to teach and develop work skills in a farm supply retail environment, up to and including stocking shelves, loading customer orders, learning the P.O.S. system, and the application of inventory in the store. This position will allow the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience in a retail setting.

Specifically, this role will support in our Tillamook store. The intern role will have the opportunity to learn overall store operations, inventory, customer service by providing coverage where needed.


Here’s a day in the life:

  • Coordinate with Farm Store management and other employees to manage opportunities for loading and stocking shelves.
  • Work closely with Farm Store Manager to support front end clerks with tasks as needed.
  • Working closely with current employees, the intern will assist in everyday management of the store supporting the overall operation.
  • The intern will work collaboratively manage freight shipments and help with the ordering process as well as providing great customer service.
  • The intern will work collaboratively to gain a basic understanding of retail training around inventory, customer service, store operations.
  • The intern will learn more about the products and services provided by the farm store and build a working knowledge of the agriculture industry.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ideal candidates will be pursuing a degree in agricultural, agricultural business or communication or a related field.
  • Excellent organization, communication, writing, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams, projects and activities.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and following through on commitments.
  • Strong self-starter who is resourceful and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.
  • Total command of the English language and demonstrated proficiency using MS Office applications. 
  • Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes.


Physical requirements:

  • Lifting up to 100 lbs.
  • Vision for machine or computer operations.
  • Travel approximately 5-10%, valid driver’s license required.
  • Other (able to travel in a car or plane on a regular basis).

 

Working environment:

Noisy; some areas can be dusty. May encounter extremes in temperature. Requires standing entire shift, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending and crouching.
