Summary: The Education Department at Farm Sanctuary works to educate youth and adults about the lives of farmed animals and interrelated issues of oppression in our food system and to inspire and support transitional steps toward vegan living. This is accomplished through community learning programs and education at our sanctuaries, online, and in-the classroom. The Intern, Education will assist the Education department in the creation and implementation of Farm Sanctuary's education curriculum.
 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Research and writing to support education programs including curriculum resources for teachers, youth advocacy, and our community learning program
  • School, summer camp, and teacher outreach projects
  • Administrative support for education program
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Extensive knowledge about the lives of farm animals, interrelated issues of our food system, and/or veganism
  • Effective communication (verbal and writing) and outreach skills
  • Proficient organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Efficient computer and internet research skills
  • Hard-working and dependable
  • Adept ability for independent work
  • Alignment with Farm Sanctuary's values of compassion, understanding, integrity, transformation, and freedom.
  • Familiarity, commitment to, and experience with the practice of equity and social justice, and the principles embedded in Farm Sanctuary's mission
     

Specifications:
 

  • Terms of employment: Part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt, temporary position
     

Reports to: Manager, Education
 

  • Location: Remote in the United States
     

Pay: $15.00/hr unless state minimum wage is higher
 

  • Benefits: Sick Time, 403B Plan
  • Additional Specifications:
  • This position requires a commitment of three months (September through November)
  • Access to a computer is required
