HW&Co. is a public accounting and consulting firm with around 150 people across five locations in Cleveland, Columbus, and Mansfield. We provide comprehensive business advisory and financial services in auditing and assurance, healthcare, private business advisory, revenue cycle, and tax. Our clients include agribusiness, manufacturing, and privately held companies to name a few, and our specialties lie within healthcare and non-profit clientele.


Job Description –

With a choice between audit, healthcare, private business advisory, or tax, our spring internship allows one to explore their career preferences in a real-world setting. Accounting interns are responsible for routine assignments based on their area of focus, and report to Senior Accountants and Job Managers. The value of the busy season internship includes gaining experience during a crucial part of the year, the opportunity to work on a variety of clients and work, and so much more!

Each intern receives a mentor where they can ask questions and learn more about the role, as well as a week of training with videos targeting each department and the overall firm. It runs from January to April, and interns are expected to work 40-55 hours a week with three days at a client or office and two days remote. There's also a requirement to take the school semester off to be able to successfully keep up with learning opportunities and workload.

What you'll learn:
 

  • How to interact with clients and network with HW&Co. accounting professionals
  • How to assist with and prepare a variety of cost reports, financial statements and/or tax returns
  • How to analyze and review financial data for a variety of industries and situations
  • A working knowledge of accounting research, software, and standards

Job Qualifications –
 

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting (or pursuing currently)
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent academic success
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities and/or work experience
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • The ability to interact with clients and employees of all levels of the Firm

Working Conditions –
 

  • Office locations in Woodmere, Willoughby, Westerville, Middleburg Heights, and Mansfield
  • Overtime hours required for client serving roles (especially during the months of January through April)
