Description/Job Summary
The Diversified Markets Portfolio Analyst will support the investment portfolio by assisting in developing, monitoring, analyzing, and servicing our loan portfolio comprised of pools of loans or individual loans with a government guaranty. This position will collaborate with the Diversified Markets team to model and analyze investment opportunities, ensure compliance with internal guidelines and FCA regulations, maintain relationships with key secondary market brokers and agencies, foster Farm Credit System relations, work with our collaborating partners, and assist in monitoring the performance of the investment portfolio.
Responsibilities/Duties
Portfolio Analysis and Business Development
- Analyze government guaranteed opportunities as they are received from the secondary market by interpreting the credit packages and/or data supplied by brokers or sellers
- Model opportunities on our internal purchasing calculator to determine if the deal fits our collaboration’s established purchasing criteria
- Review investment packages and trade tickets and coordinate between internal and external parties to ensure closing requirements are met.
- Collaborate with the Diversified Market team to identify current trends and geographical locations to target as part of our investment strategy
- Assist in monitoring portfolio concentrations
- Perform various in-depth financial analysis to support the Board, management, ALCO, and our collaborating partners
Portfolio Servicing and Management
- Service, reprice, and manage the loan portfolio through lead lends, brokers, and various federal agencies
- Communicate with lead banks to reconcile loan records as needed
- Monitor the past due report, and work with institutions and brokers to remedy as necessary
- Perform regular analysis and tracking to monitor portfolio net interest margin, constant prepayment rates and other key ratios
- Work with key collaborating partner on various other reporting responsibilities
Industry Expertise
- Collect and interpret market data to identify industries or deal structures where FCI may have a niche
- Analyze economic market trends to help make critical investment strategies and decisions
- Collect and review historical constant repayment rates to track average market trends
- Maintain awareness of Farm Credit Association regulations and apply them to our practices
- Attend trainings and conferences hosted by brokers or other key stakeholders
Relationship Management
- Develop relationships with secondary market brokers, commercial bankers, and collateral custodians for our government guaranteed loan portfolio
- Foster key internal cross-departmental relationship
- Work closely with a key collaborating Farm Credit System partner
- Network with Farm Credit System Associations
Audit and Compliance
- Provide support to internal and external auditors and assist in providing responses or corrective actions as needed
- Conduct due diligence on secondary market brokers to verify credentials at a minimum on an annual basis and obtain appropriate documentation
- Perform portfolio testing based on internally established criteria
- Monitor portfolio exceptions and receive proper approvals as needed

- Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data
Required Skills
- Knowledge in credit analysis and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or ag economics and 0-3 years of experience in agricultural or commercial lending or credit analysis;
- or equivalent education, experience, and skillset sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
