About the role

Elders is looking for a Carbon Farming Project Officer to join the growing team, on a full-time ,12 month fixed-term contract.

Reporting to the Head of Thomas Elder Sustainable Agriculture, the Carbon Farming Project Officer will support the coordination and delivery of critical Carbon Farming projects for the Elders business.

This newly created position will support growth in Elders carbon farming services and will play an integral role in the coordination and drafting of carbon farming project reports (including feasibility reports). The role will also work with farming clients, Elders expert staff and sub-contractors in the administration and management of carbon farming projects.

Responsibilities
  • Support carbon farming ACCU Scheme project administration, management and reporting
  • Using Elders GIS and carbon assessment programs to assess feasibility of carbon farming on properties
  • Delivery of carbon feasibility reports, including client & stakeholder liaison, project design, drafting and compiling reports
  • Remain up to date with contemporary carbon farming project trends and regulatory requirements
  • Manage internal and external technical advisers - including related to various carbon farming methods (soil, vegetation, environmental plantings)
  • Work closely with broader Elders business, to ensure products meet client needs


About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in Project Management, natural resource management, agriculture, GIS or Remote sensing related fields desirable.
  • Experience in Project Management - including project coordination, administration and report delivery for commercial clients
  • Experience in GIS or remote sensing
  • Practical understanding of carbon farming initiatives and registered Carbon farming project implementation in Australia
  • Practical understanding of farming practices that optimise carbon outcomes in agricultural businesses
  • The ability to create clear and professional reports with excellent report design and data visualisation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience effectively engaging a variety of stakeholders
