Creating Internship Programs that Produce Results ~ April 3-4, Kansas City, MO
February 09, 2007

Whether you have interns coming this summer or you are considering developing an internship program from the ground up, this two-day workshop will give you all the tips and tools you need to make your program produce results. Learn from experts who have worked with students and interns to create successful programs at leading organizations.

This workshop, designed for human resource professionals and intern managers, will help participants learn:

  • The benefits of a successful internship program
  • How to get support from management
  • How to get students excited about your internship program
  • Examples of work projects that are meaningful for the student and provide value to the employer
  • What you should (and should not) provide in your program
  • And, many other helpful pointers to make your internship program an effective component of your overall recruiting plan

As an added bonus, all participating organizations will be eligible to participate in a market research project regarding intern’s expectations. AgCareers.com will facilitate a third-party survey of all interns selected for the summer within your organization and other organizations participating in the study prior to their start date. The first survey will ask them about the recruitment process and about their expectations for their internship. Upon completing their internship, student interns will be surveyed again to see how well expectations were met. The individual company results will be provided back to each company (intern identities will be kept anonymous), and you will also receive a report of the overall survey response so that you can compare your results to those of other participating organizations.

We are pleased to have guest presenters, Bob Broeckelman, Farm Credit, and Stephanie Chipman, University of Missouri-Columbia, share their expertise and experience with interns and internship programs. Also, hear from students about what they like and dislike about internships.

AgCareers.com would also like to thank our host and sponsor, Agriculture Future of America. Agriculture Future of America (AFA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying, encouraging, and supporting outstanding men and women preparing for careers in the agriculture and food industry.
