Our client is a leading owner and operator of large-scale USDA-certified organic and regenerative practice farms, is seeking a skilled Finance Controller to support our Finance Director in overseeing the financial operations of our agriculture company.
This role involves managing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a robust finance background, strong analytical skills, and experience in agriculture.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare accurate financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other financial regulations.
- Assist in statutory reports, tax filings, and annual audit coordination.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Help develop and monitor the annual budget and forecasts.
- Analyze operating results and support budget adherence and forecast accuracy.
- Collaborate with department leads for accurate budgeting.

Financial Analysis & Support:
- Conduct analyses to support business decisions (cost analysis, profitability, capital investments).
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance business performance.
- Assist in developing financial strategies aligned with company goals.

Cash Flow Management:
- Support cash flow planning and resource optimization.
- Maintain banking relationships and manage treasury functions.

Internal Controls & Risk Management:
- Develop and enforce internal control policies.
- Identify financial risks and assist in creating mitigation strategies.
- Ensure efficient, compliant financial processes.

Team Collaboration & Development:
- Collaborate with the finance team and other departments for smooth operations.
- Support finance team training and development.
- Promote a collaborative team environment.

Agriculture-Specific Support:
- Manage financial aspects of agricultural operations (crop/livestock accounting, commodity pricing).
- Monitor industry-specific financial risks (weather, market fluctuations).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred.
- 5+ years of financial management experience, with a strong accounting background; agriculture experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and relevant regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment typical of the agriculture industry.
- Occasional travel to farm locations and other sites may be required.
- Availability for extended hours during peak seasons or special projects.
