We're looking for a Research Seed Production Specialist Intern - Letsitele. Learn how you can be our voice in the conversation about the future of agriculture. At Corteva Agriscience, you will help us grow what's next. You will be part of a team that is building the future of agriculture - leading breakthroughs in the innovation and application of science and technology. In this role, you will use your research/agricultural experience to serve as a team member in the Research Seed Production team to conduct planning, planting, data collection and harvesting of Research Seed Production activities for Maize and Sunflower in Letsitele, Limpopo Province. South Africa.
You Will Be Part of Growing Team:
Research and Development
Your Challenge:
Working outdoors under extreme but reasonable weather conditions.
Ability to work with permanent and seasonal staff to experience the skills and knowledge they acquired from their long service of years.
You will meet or work with various experienced professionals in research seed production industry who can provide you with valuable guidance and knowledge to enhance your growth within research seed production.
Work as part of a team for planting of various planned experiments prioritizing accuracy and meeting targeted deadlines.
Will effectively participate in all agronomy related activities to control pest weeds and pest insects including diseases. This may include chemical application and or physical weed control.
Be part of pollination teams with strong ambition of achieving successful pollinations from various planted experiments.
Participate effectively in all irrigation and fertigation activities.
Involved in agricultural equipment usage prioritizing your own safety and of the other employees.
Ability to learn to safely operate a tractor and operate other agricultural equipment.
Field scouting - Learn to identify, off type plants, diseased plants, volunteer plants and identify symptoms early for presence of FAW to implement remedial actions on time.
You will be asked to assist with data collection - Learn and build knowledge / skills on plant development stages as this is critical for data collection at required times.
You will be working on a small but very busy farm with various critical activities, therefore, ability to do any reasonable tasks deemed necessary is critically important and may require you to work extra hours to contribute to the success of the farm.
Safety of all employees can never be compromised. Therefore, you are expected to effectively participate into various safety trainings and procedures to ensure tasks are conducted in a safe manner without causing injuries, illness or loss of life.

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in agriculture or Diploma in scientific related field
Ability to make timely decisions, assist to solve problems and build consensus.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills are required for fostering teamwork, enhancing a good working environment, and effectively developing strong working relationships with a diverse group of people.
Technical skills are beneficial.
Hands on mindset with strong willingness to work on dusty or muddy conditions.
Proficiency in Office software such as spreadsheets, mail, calendar and presentation software.
Aways comply with safety regulations and country laws.
During peak hours of planting, irrigation, pollinations or chemical applications, working extra hours is expected including working on a Saturday or Sunday and on a Public Holiday.
To be energetic and the ability to work outdoors in all types of reasonable weather conditions.
Possession of a valid driver's license will be advantageous.
