Job Description:

Process Development and Implementation within Crop Health R&D has an exciting opportunity for an Separation SME to join our process analytical technology group. You will be part of a diverse team of analytical chemists, organic chemists, chemical engineers, delivering solutions to active ingredients from discovery stage through manufacturing support.

The ideal candidate will possess a breadth of analytical experience, specialize in separation technology, ability to design and conduct laboratory experiments, and a solid foundation in analytical data analysis. Candidates should excel in technical problem-solving, demonstrate learning agility, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams with good communication skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform laboratory activities with a strong mindset of safety and technical rigor.  
  • Develop robust analytical methods (eg. HPLC assay/impurity, GC assay/impurity/solvent etc) to enable project advancement.  
  • Collaborate with multiple analytical disciplines (separations, spectroscopy, NMR etc.) to provide data and solutions in a timely manner to project teams.
  • Communicate effectively with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Partner with process, biology, discovery, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure project delivery across development.
  • Lead and collaborate with other functions or external partners to enable successful transfer to implement analytical methods.  
  • Direct or facilitate material testing activities conducted by other characterization analytical groups, or external partners.  
  • Identify and exploit new scientific concepts. 
  • Identify the potential problems and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be self-motivated to contribute across multiple projects and lead analytical problem solving.  
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to represent both the technical aspects and business-related implication of the work.
  • Publish original manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals; present at external and internal scientific meetings.

What Skills You Need:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or equivalent with expertise in analytical with a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
  • Strong background in organic chemistry and process development to support method development and problem solving is preferred.
  • Experience in characterization and quantification of synthetic small molecules, natural products, synthetic polymers, or biopolymers by HPLC or GC is required.
  • General knowledge of other analytical technologies, including but not limited to LC/MS or GC/MS, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in collaborating with diverse teams and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
