The Georgetown R&D center is the global technology hub for Corteva's canola breeding programs with on-site field, greenhouse and lab activities supporting the development of industry leading seed products for various markets. This position will focus on canola seed compositional analysis in our analytical lab, while also assisting with other lab operation on-site.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform general lab tasks, such as solvent preparation, housekeeping and waste management.

  • Prepare samples for GC (Gas Chromatography) analysis following established procedures.

  • Operate analytical instruments such as GC, NIR (Near-infrared Spectroscopy) and cytometers using various software applications.

  • Conduct daily maintenance to ensure lab instruments remain in optimal condition.

  • Review analysis results, identify anomalies, and apply existing procedures to address standard issues.

  • Manage daily workflow and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Identify ploidy of microspore-derived embryos and plants using cytometers.

  • Work independently on DH production and discovery projects.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment related issues.

  • Ensure adherence to good laboratory practices and safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with and support contract employees as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to exchange information.

What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher with1-2 years of laboratory experience.

  • Background in analytical chemistry and/or experience in an analytical lab is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Excellent verbal communication skill.
