The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day operations during an assigned shift to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role provides direct supervision to hourly employees, coordinates workflow, resolves operational issues, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and company policies while meeting production goals.
Operations & Production:
Review production schedules and allocate team members to ensure production targets are met.
Oversee assigned shift operations including conditioning, treating, packaging, and warehousing activities.
Monitor productivity, quality, cost, delivery, and morale metrics during the shift.
Coordinate workflow and resources with other departments and site leaders.
Safety & Quality:
Enforce all safety policies and ensure employees work in a safe manner at all times.
Monitor product quality and ensure operations meet Quality and Capacity Plan requirements.
Address and resolve safety, quality, or process deviations promptly.
People Leadership:
Provide direct supervision, coaching, and feedback to employees on the shift.
Ensure employees are properly trained and capable of performing assigned tasks.
Assist employees in problem-solving and performance improvement.
Support workforce planning, scheduling, and employee development activities.
Communication & Reporting:
Maintain effective communication with plant leadership, other shifts, vendors, and support functions.
Provide input to management on staffing needs, performance issues, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Prior experience in manufacturing, production, agricultural operations, or a related field.
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Associate's degree or technical training.
Experience leading teams in a shift-based or 24/7 operation.
Familiarity with manufacturing or operations software systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent).
Manufacturing or production facility with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise.
Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime during peak production periods.
