Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Population Development Specialist to lead and support research initiatives focused on corn crop improvement. The role involves designing and executing field trials, analyzing agronomic data, and contributing to the development of high-yielding, stress-tolerant corn hybrids suited to regional agro-climatic conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement field and lab-based experiments related to corn breeding, population development , agronomy, and crop protection.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data on yield performance, disease resistance, and environmental adaptability.
- Collaborate with breeding teams, agronomists, and external research institutions to drive innovation in corn genetics and cultivation practices.
- Prepare detailed research reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
- Monitor and evaluate ongoing trials, ensuring adherence to protocols and timelines.
- Support regulatory and product registration processes with relevant data and documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in corn research, biotechnology, and precision agriculture.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Agriculture, Plant Breeding, Agronomy, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in crop research, preferably in corn.
- Hands-on experience with field trials, data analysis tools, and statistical software.
- Strong understanding of corn physiology, genetics, and breeding techniques.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Willingness to travel to trial sites and work in field conditions.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, or digital agriculture tools.
- Experience in working with government and private sector stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for seed testing and approval.
