Join a dynamic, forward-thinking team as our Platform Engineering Lead, shaping the future of our global hybrid-cloud infrastructure. You will set and execute the strategic vision for foundational tools, infrastructure, and processes across your portfolio, emphasizing infrastructure-as-software, product management, automation, resiliency, security, cost efficiency, and streamlined developer experiences. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations Compute & Managed Platforms Leader, you'll lead a talented global team responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualization (VMWare and Nutanix) and Kubernetes platforms.

The ideal candidate is an innovative technical leader who approaches infrastructure management as a software engineering discipline. You have a proven track record in platform strategy, deployment, operations, automation, software-defined infrastructure, API-driven architectures, and talent development within large-scale global organizations. You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, adeptly managing ambiguity while driving operational excellence, innovation, and fostering growth within your team.

Primary Responsibilities - How will you help us Grow!

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for virtualization and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Virtualization & Container Platforms: Lead the architecture, deployment, and continuous improvement of foundational technologies supporting hybrid multi-cloud environments. Apply industry best practices for security, cost optimization, automation, self-service, performance, and monitoring.
  • Infrastructure as Software: Leverage software engineering practices to solve infrastructure challenges, developing infrastructure APIs, standardized automations, reusable platform services, and self-service capabilities to accelerate application delivery and business value.
  • Developer Experience (DevEx): Design platforms and workflows with a strong focus on developer experience, reducing friction and enabling intuitive self-service interactions.
  • Incident Management: Act as the primary escalation point, proactively managing incidents, leading root-cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures to enhance reliability.
  • Security & Compliance: Proactively enhance security posture and compliance, ensuring adherence to FDA, SOX, GDPR, and other relevant standards and regulations. Actively participate in audits and compliance reviews.
  • Documentation & Observability: Ensure comprehensive documentation and observability of systems, processes, and configurations, emphasizing transparency, metrics-driven decision making, logging, and tracing.
  • Performance & Reliability: Continuously identify opportunities for enhancing system performance, availability, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Establish and nurture strategic relationships with key product vendors and suppliers.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Develop and regularly test robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships across IT, collaborating closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Application Development, ERP, Enterprise Architecture, and Portfolio Management teams.
  • Talent Leadership: Mentor, coach, and develop a diverse global team of employees and contractors, cultivating a high-performance, innovative culture.
  • Operational Excellence & Innovation: Embed operational excellence and innovation practices into daily operations, continuously evaluating emerging technologies and methods to drive improvement.

Experience and Education - What you'll bring to the table!

  • Bachelor degree of Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior or lead Platform Engineering role.
  • Proven expertise in software engineering practices, infrastructure as code, and modern development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, GitOps).
  • Deep experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Strong proficiency in virtualization technologies enabling private cloud solutions (VMware, Nutanix).
  • Strong experience modernizing and migrating application workloads to containerized deployments, enabling faster software delivery, increased scalability, and improved resource efficiency.
  • Experience across multiple cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools (GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable, secure, reliable systems and intuitive self-service workflows.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, effectively managing multiple priorities.

Other Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating within Infrastructure as Product (IaP) models.
  • Background in internal consulting, strategic planning, or customer experience.
  • Proven track record fostering collaborative team environments.
