As a Phenotyping Specialist, you will be a key contributor for a variety of activities at the Princeton, IN research station and will contribute to the joint success of a multi-crop research center committed to developing and characterizing new hybrids and varieties for corn, soybeans, wheat, and canola. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of agronomy and farm equipment, applicable knowledge of crop diseases, and interest and/or experience in UAV operation. This position will assist in the management and organization of phenotypic data collection and trial execution efforts for a multi-crop research station.

What You'll Do:

  • Work in collaboration with teammates to plan and conduct field trial experiments, collect and analyze data, and ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Collect data from the ground and with UAVs, assess data quality, and provide summaries.
  • Assist in operation of planting and harvest equipment, as well as other critical work activities.
  • Function as the primary PPQ contact and secondary regulatory contact.
  • Lead the disease screening efforts for multiple crops, including corn, soy, and wheat.
  • Lead seed organization and preparation ahead of planting operations.
  • Serve as a pollination nursery crew lead in support of the Nursery Lead
  • Maintain and improve the efficiency and safety of daily workplace operations.
  • Manage team resources: employees, equipment, discretionary funds, etc.

What Skills You Need:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma with 4+ years of experience in agricultural production or research is required OR Bachelor's degree in an Agronomy, Biology, or scientific related field.
  • Experience with UAV and agricultural equipment preferred.
  • Aptitude for operating and learning to use planting and harvest equipment. Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel, and capacity to learn innovative technologies and software. Handling of large volumes of data will be required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong people skills. Ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
  • Initiative-taking with the ability to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem solve. Meticulous, strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices
  • Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License (if not already licensed)
  • Must be able to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments.
  • Must have the capability to lift 60lbs.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including shift work and extended hours, including weekend work and overnight stays during seasonal peaks.
  • Must have a valid driver's License, acceptable driving record, and ability to drive Commercial Motor Vehicle(non-CDL).
