Performance Engineer

The Performance Engineer role ensures opportunities from area losses are captured, evaluated, prioritized and solutions are implemented to maximize the Business Team's P&L.

Primary responsibilities of the Performance Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the successful application of policies, management system compliance, and applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety standards. Be an influential leader in demonstrating strong commitment to personal safety, process safety, and compliance.

  • Understands the goals of the organization and aligns individual goals with these objectives. Focuses on activities that generate the most value for Corteva to produce low cost, quality products.

  • Demonstrate strong engineering skills to troubleshoot process bottlenecks, evaluate new opportunities, and prioritize complex issues.

  • Interface often with a variety of personnel, including leadership, operators, maintenance personnel, R&D, auditors, etc. They must have highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Understands all applicable process technology, equipment and control technology.

  • Ensure daily and weekly KPI's are entered, analyzed, and any red/off target metrics have plans to close the gap.

  • Monitor and analyze reliability performance and encourage proactive identification of equipment issues.

  • Understands all applicable process technology, equipment and control technology.

  • Participate and contribute towards improvement idea generation to close gaps in performance. 

  • Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement, ranging from basic tool usage to the management and guidance of more complex projects.

  • Participates in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Utilizes Root Cause Analysis techniques to identify and drive improvements to prevent recurrent issues.

  • Facilitates the screening of improvement ideas, then facilitates the evaluation, prioritization, and execution of proposed improvement ideas. Tracks progress and prioritization of improvement project status and completion.

  • Participates in project execution as project leader and/or performs project related tasks as defined with the project manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 year engineering degree?
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills?
  • Technical excellence?
  • High degree of ownership?
  • Desire to engage with operating team?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chemical Industry work experience

  • Six Sigma certification or exposure

  • FMEA
