We have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Technician to join our company at our Indianapolis, IN site.  In this role, you will support packaging projects in the region following Corteva’s packaging Procedures, standards and best practices which fulfill all internal and external customer expectations.

 

What You’ll Do:

  •  Project support activities
    • Support data collection and proper documentation to keep the Specright system updated
    • Support the generation of reports / dashboards that will assist in data management
    • Support product launches by helping to clone/develop package specifications, assembly packaging instructions
    • Support the investigation of package quality problems arising in manufacturing or in the supply chain
    • Support UN management process
    • Support SAP data generation and system updates 
    • Support sample shipping of package components
  • Project Lab activities
    • Assist all types of packaging testing and material characterization such as
      • Pack screen - Provide support for storage stability studies.
      • Coupon testing
      • Oxygen scavenging and CO2 studies
      • Sample pulls activities, document observations & measurements & validations post testing
      • Support Vacuum resistant and Hydrostatic test
      • Ensure data collection, pictures and documentation - Maintains laboratory notebook and accurately documents all experiments and results
      • Communicate update for daily activities and in a timely fashion to the team
      • Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in good working order
      • Maintain appropriate focus on personal and process safety, product integrity and environmental stewardship
      • Understand and follow appropriate EH&S standards, policies and procedures applicable to tasks or job. Lead by example in the area of safety behaviors by promoting safe work habits

What Skills You Need:

  • Associate Degree or Technical Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Sciences or related discipline with proven technical work experience
  • Technical experience in academia or industry is a plus
  • Proficiency with standard workstation software, including Word, Excel, and specialized computer-based systems, databases and/or software applications relevant to supported technologies and analytical equipment
  • Understanding laboratory operation and basic Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements such as safe operating procedures and management of change. Strong understanding and commitment to their own and the safety of others
  • Expertise in analyzing data and agreeing on actionable, prioritized opportunity list with teammates.
  • A solid track record of documentation
  • Good problem-solving skills, data driven
  • Strong interpersonal, proactiveness and communication skills 
  • Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to summarize the results in a report or slide deck and proactively communicate findings
