Corteva Agriscience is a global leader of seed, crop protection, and digital solutions in agriculture. We have a one-year fixed-term position in our R&D organization in Eschbach, Germany.

Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician will support research and development activities focused on seed applied technologies (SAT) and weed control. This role involves conducting laboratory and controlled-environment experiments to evaluate product efficacy, impact of different growth parameters, and application techniques. The technician will contribute to product characterization, resistance monitoring, and post-launch support, ensuring high-quality data generation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work safely and promote safety around all activities on site
  • Participate to equipment set-up and calibration (growth chambers, spraying cabinet, seed treater, rain simulator, etc...)
  • Participation in Standard Operation Procedures set-up and updates
  • Help with stock/inventory management (seeds, products, PPEs...)
  • Preparation of laboratory furniture orders
  • Develop processes and methodologies to germinate and grow multiple weed/crop species under adapted controlled conditions
  • Apply, optimize and create methodologies for in-vivo lab studies for plant protection products characterizations
  • Set-up and prepare in-vivo studies (soil, pots and Petri dishes preparation, germination tests, sowing, transplantation, thinning, irrigation)
  • Media preparation for pathogen multiplication under sterile conditions (laminar hood)
  • Prepare plant protection products solutions and mixes to be applied on target crops and seeds
  • Apply plant protection products with appropriate equipment (sprayer or seed treater) and parameters (weighing, dilution, mixes, spraying leaves or application on seeds)
  • Clean application equipment
  • Assess and investigate studies results (visual assessments, counting, measurement, pictures)
  • Participation in writing end-of-study reports and presenting results
  • Analyze data and propose conclusions and recommendations for study objectives and methodology optimization (data analysis, graphs, stats)
  • Maintain fungal strains, insects, prepare growth media
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and safety standards
  • Document experimental protocols, results, and observations accurately
  • Support data entry and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for study planning and execution

Working Conditions

  • Work in laboratory, greenhouse, and growth chamber environments
  • Occasional handling of chemicals and biological materials
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences, Plant Biology, or related field
  • Achieved experience in lab, working with plant material, chemical and biologicals products (in-vivo studies, plant material manipulation, lab manipulations, dilutions, mixes, etc...)
  • Technical knowledge in seed applied technologies and/or weed science is a plus
  • Controlled conditions and plant growth knowledge (healthy and well-developed plants, homogeneity, reproducibility, weed/crop biology & growth parameters, etc...)
  • Rigor and technical excellence required for standardized processes, precise and repetitive tasks, accurate lab manipulations and observations (small products quantities, plants), etc...
  • Ability to identify key parameters of controlled conditions to understand tests results and to adapt/develop appropriate test conditions & methodologies to reach studies objectives
  • Data collection (visual assessments, counting, measurements, etc...)
  • Data analyses (ANOVA, descriptive stats, graphs, synthesis)
  • Autonomy and flexibility
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
  • Basic understanding of plant physiology and crop protection products modes of action
  • Proficiency in data recording and analysis tools
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Adaptability to evolutive missions and studies objectives
  • Communication and proactive behavior
  • full proficiency in English, German highly desirable
  • for non-EU candidates: valid work permit
