Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician.
What You'll Do:
• Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting chemists and engineers in providing formulation technical support for launched crop protection and biological products in technology transfer, product registration, product production, expiry date extension, and product application.
• Handles complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks including complex methods and procedures and recommends variations in problem approach with little or no supervision.
• Responsible for managing, then safely executing laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data via laboratory notebook and report.
• Understands the value of high-quality data and generate such data. Organizes and prepares data tables and charts to present data collected in studies supported. Interprets results of trials and experiments and documents according to Corteva standards.
• Partner with technology center and manufacturing team to support manufacture process improvement projects and troubleshooting formulation production challenges.
• Support the active ingredient and co-formulants change projects driven by cost reduction and risk mitigation by leading and conducting the formulation qualification tests at the lab and pilot scales.
• Trains other work group members and contractors on specific work processes, equipment, machinery, for which the incumbent is a work group subject matter expert.
• Ensure lessons learned during troubleshooting process are documented to improve future product design and development.
• Capable of taking action and resolving issues independently is a must. Actively demonstrates accountability by providing recommendations and/or thorough analysis of options for issues/solutions.
• Actively participates in team meetings and identifies improvement opportunities in area of Environmental, health and safety (EH&S) and implements improved EH&S practices and procedures.
What Skills You Need:
• Associate Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Colloid and Surface Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline with proven technical work experience is required
• Requires proficiency with standard workstation software, including Word, Excel, and specialized computer-based systems, databases and/or software applications relevant to supported technologies and analytical equipment.
• Understanding of laboratory operation and basic Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements such as safe operating procedures and management of change. Strong understanding and commitment to their own and the safety of others.
• Understanding of science and technology practices with an ability to analyze data and prepare composition sheets.
• Proficient at documenting and presenting data in laboratory notebook and report.
• Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders (sales, marketing, R&D, regulatory, production, supply chain, quality, etc) from multiple backgrounds is essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to deliver presentations that proactively communicates results and progress to stakeholders is essential.
What Makes You Stand Out:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry, Material Science, Colloid and Surface Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Greater than 2 years of experience with formulated product development and/or production support is highly desired.
