Corteva Agriscience is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lab Sr Technician join the Transgene Expression Engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in plant biology, biotechnology and genomic approaches. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at elucidating regulatory elements that control gene expression, leveraging computational and experimental approaches.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and execute experiments to characterize gene expression elements in crops of interest.
  • Conduct hands-on work in laboratory, including but not limited to, vector construction, agrobacterium transformation, protoplast transient assays, plant sample collection and plant phenotyping.
  • Effectively troubleshoot experimental protocols and actively engage in continuous process improvement projects.
  • Analyze and interpret the resulting data and communicate outcomes of experiments and recommended next steps.
  • Communicate experimental designs and results clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive research projects forward.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, data integrity standards, and regulatory guidelines in all research activities.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies relevant to expression elements.

What Skills You Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field with a minimum of five years of academic or industry work experience in plant biotechnology, or a Master's degree in similar fields along with practical experience in plant biotechnology applications.  
  • Strong understanding of gene regulation, expression element function, and molecular genetics is required.
  • Prior experience working with plants in laboratory, greenhouse and/or field conditions is highly desired.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively are required.
  • Experience in experimental design and wet-lab techniques related to regulatory element discovery is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of experimental data and procedures, including laboratory notebook, is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data entry, imaging & image processing, and basic programming skills will be advantageous.
