Job Description:

Corteva Agriscience has an opportunity to join our team on Kaua’i, Hawai’i as a Horticulture Manager leading the Integrated Pest Management team supporting projects growing maize in shadehouses. The manager is responsible for implementing a safe, sustainable, and data-driven approach to pest control in order to promote crop health, ensure regulatory compliance, and minimize environmental impact. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone knowledgeable in plant biology and/or horticulture as well as entomology who is able and willing to apply crop protection products. What You'll Do:

  • Oversee Integrated Pest Management program for shadehouse operations: This includes scouting, maintaining passive pest control measures, planning and executing crop-protection applications, equipment maintenance, managing and organizing chemical inventory, and record keeping.

  • Supervise full-time employees and contingent workers, ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all protocols, policies, and regulations.

  • Lead innovation and continuous processes improvement initiatives, including evaluating new methods and products.

  • Work collaboratively with other managers to meet the quality, quantity, and timeline targets.

  • Promote positive work attitudes and harmonious relations.

  • Willing and able to work flexible schedules, holidays, and weekends during peak periods or when required.

  • Support all Hawaii Research Center goals and support other projects when needed.

 

What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, agriculture, horticulture, agronomy, entomology, or plant pathology

  • Minimum of four years related experience

  • Equivalent levels of relevant education and experience may substitute for formal certifications.

  • Ability to manage people as part of a larger, culturally diverse group.

  • Integrated Pest Management, pest biology, and sustainable practices

  • Plant biology, agronomy, horticulture, entomology

  • Able and willing to serve as a Pesticide Handler

  • Hawaii Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities

  • Ability to bend, reach, and lift repetitively. Occasionally required to carry 20-50 lbs

  • Tolerance, willingness, and ability to work in warm conditions and variable environments

  • Computer competency and experience with MS Office- Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and CDMS

  • Valid driver’s license

The salary range for this position is $88,908.00 to $100,380.00.

This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
