This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and execution of Trait Integration and Population Development activities within the Seedling Houses at the Puerto Rico Center. The role involves performing a variety of tasks that evolve throughout the year, aligned with seasonal demands, while ensuring the efficient and timely completion of all scheduled activities. Responsibilities include assisting with planting, data collection, recurrent parent management, and other greenhouse and field-related tasks to meet project deliverables in terms of quality, quantity, and timelines.
Candidates should be comfortable using computers and mobile devices and be willing to work both indoors and outdoors. Most importantly, they must demonstrate a collaborative attitude, strong communication and critical thinking skills, and a commitment to quality. The individual may be asked to serve as a crew leader, which includes helping supervising contingent workers. They will also help oversee daily operations in assigned greenhouse tasks, with a strong emphasis on safety.

What You'll Do:
This position will assist the horticultural specialist on matters concerning daily operations in the seedling houses.
Perform related administrative duties, including writing/maintaining operational safety documentation, and tracking employee training requirements.
Maintain strong and effective communication with SRAs and RA support teams to ensure resource availability and timely seed delivery.
Provide support in operational oversight across multiple projects, ensuring safe execution in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Promote innovation in processes and standards to enhance delivery performance, seed quantity, and quality—leveraging data analysis, historical performance, and best practices.
Actively participate in cross-functional PW teams focused on quality, safety, seed production, innovation, and logistics.
Ensuring compliance with Quality and Safety requirements, including developing and reviewing procedures.
Actively participate in the enhancement of safety programs and protocols—focusing on safety, efficiency, and effectiveness—by identifying and communicating potential risks and improvement opportunities within the direct work environment.
Be able to operate and understand the Elle pot machine to achieve seedling transplants.
Perform a variety of tasks associated with Seedling Houses: transplants, data collection, provide support in local trials, keep inventory of supplies and perform validations of materials when they are transferred from the laboratory to the seedling's houses.
Provide housekeeping in seedlings houses areas including the operation head house.
Observe daily plants as they grow and document observations in company software.
Provide daily feedback on the quality of the plants transplanted.
Observe the condition of plants growing in structures, interpret findings, and report any abnormalities.
Follow all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines with a high level of attention to detail.
Participate in the development of SOPs and in process improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Support all goals and initiatives of the Salinas, Puerto Rico Research Center, and collaborate with other projects at the location as needed.
Promote positive work attitudes and foster harmonious working relationships.
What Skills You Need:
A bachelor's degree in plant sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Agronomy or a closely related technical field is required.
Minimum of 1 year of research experience in relevant areas. (Ag, Greenhouse and/or biology experience).
You have high diligence, can multitask, maintain an organized workplace, and have excellent critical thinking skills.
General knowledge and/or experience with seedlings houses and/or agriculture field.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage varying workloads.
Willing and able to work in warm conditions and in variable environments, including partially enclosed structures.
Outstanding organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail and ability to read/interpret instructions and carry out tasks.
The ability to work effectively across diverse cultures is essential and work independently as well as in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English (Basics).

Ability to work a rotating shift, overtime hours, which include weekends?during seasonal peaks to support production demand?extended hours and weekends during critical periods of the season.
Comfortable with technology and possess good computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and are willing and able to learn other company-specific applications as required.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Willing and able to lift and carry weights ranging from 20 to 50 lbs.
Willing and able to work in warm conditions and variable environments, including partially enclosed structures.
