The Hazard Communication Regional Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing chemical hazard communications within SAP, performing final reviews and releases of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), mentoring junior team members, managing stakeholder relationships, and monitoring/improving internal hazard communication processes across Europe. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with various safety regulations and standards, such as the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), EU Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP), and other relevant local and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
SDS Management:
Ensure consistent implementation of the SDS work process and availability of regional SDSs globally.
Champion continuous improvement of the SDS work process and operating discipline, including training and communication with various expertise centers and business functions.
Ensure all hazard communication practices comply with regional, national, and international regulations.
Data Management and Troubleshooting:
Provide quality assurance review of EH&S data captured in SAP, and ensure it connects to other relevant internal tools for Regulatory and Stewardship (e.g., RaCE, FACTS).
Maintain document storage and archiving systems and business rules for SDSs, seeking opportunities to delegate where appropriate.
Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance:
Monitor applicable regulatory and industry developments regarding product safety and hazard communication.
Work with key stakeholders to understand related business implications and respond accordingly (e.g., GHS, CLP or any other regulatory impact on the SDS).
Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits and assessments.
Collaboration and Communication:
Deliver training on SDS work processes and operating discipline to key internal stakeholders in Commercial, R&D, Quality, EH&S, Regulatory, Operations, Supply Chain, and Legal functions.
Work closely with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to stay informed about best practices and emerging issues in hazard communication. Address related communication internally and implement relevant actions in the team's workflows.
Act as the focal point for escalation of business questions and concerns on SDSs and labels regionally.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Minimum of a BS degree in chemistry, agriculture, biology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent experience), or a regulatory degree.
Professional Experience:
10+ years of experience working within a hazard communication team focused on the EU.
Experience working within or adjacent to a chemical/agricultural regulatory organization.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, with familiarity with database environments. Familiarity with SDS creation tools. Knowledge of SAP-EHS is an added advantage.
Strong data analysis skills.

Ability to follow and apply defined work processes.
Track record of innovation and process improvement.
