We are seeking a Fungicide Biology Associate Investigator to conduct and organize routine bioassays on plant pathogens.  This position is aligned with our Crop Health Discovery & Development Fungicide Biology Group based at our research and development (R&D) facility in Indianapolis, IN.  The researcher will be responsible for efficiently managing day-to-day laboratory activities including coordinating and scheduling resources, preparing and grading bioassays, capturing data, training contract staff, and managing laboratory safety.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong organizational skills for this exciting opportunity in a dynamic R&D environment.  The successful candidate must be able to excel in a team environment, network across research groups, and clearly communicate with stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct bioassays including set-up, implementation, and assessment.
  • Coordinate and schedule laboratory resources to maintain an efficient screening process.
  • Schedule the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Train and onboarding contract research staff.
  • Develop and implement safety practices to ensure safety in the work environment.
  • Maintain compliance with requirements for plant and pathogen handling and disposal.
  • Data collection, management, and quality assurance.

What Skills You Need:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related area with 4+ years of laboratory experience or M.Sc. in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Biological Sciences or related area.
  • Experience conducting laboratory bioassays in an R&D setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational skills and desire to work in a dynamic laboratory environment.

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Experience designing and conducting experiments involving plant pathogens in a lab and/or greenhouse environment.
  • Experience with the culturing and manipulation of microbes.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment, automation, high throughput screening assays.
  • Experience with bioassay development and implementation.
