As a Field Testing Specialist, you will be a key contributor for a variety of activities at the Woodstock, Ontario, Canada research center. You will play a key role in supporting all projects at the research center through activities including experiment planning, data collection and analysis, and field operations including planting, pollinating, and harvesting.

What You'll Do:
Operate and troubleshoot agricultural research equipment by having the ability to onboard, operate, and maintain. This includes tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines
Use technology and modern software tools to conduct field research experiments
Follow specific protocols to collect, analyze, and distribute large volumes of data
Collaborate with experiment managers to summarize results of experiments, note problem areas during data collection, and recommend actions
Collaborate with the team to plan and organize weekly workflow efficiently to ensure completion of projects according to deadlines
Effectively communicate with coworkers, key customers, and management
May manage and direct the work of temporary and seasonal employees
Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment
Compile and record information using computer software and databases. Create documentation toward protocols
Assist with research center projects and research seed production activities, including seed preparation for planting, pollinating, and combine/hand harvest. These are critical times for the success of the research program, so weekend work and overtime will be required at these times
Provide support for other research projects as assigned
Maintain and ensure proper policies are being upheld through compliance record keeping and documentation.
Use standardized operating procedures to ensure that all material necessary for conducting field experiments is prepared properly and on time
Follow all safety policies and procedures provided by the company while leading these policies and communicating any changes to the team
What Skills You Need:
High school diploma/GED with 3-5 years of relevant experience OR Associates degree or bachelor's degree in agriculture or scientific field with 0-4 years (preferred).
Experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or a scientific-related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
Self-motivated and able to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem-solving. Detail-oriented, strong time management and organizational skills
Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and capacity to learn new technologies and software. Handling of large volumes of data will be required
Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds
Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including shift work
Additional overtime hours, weekends, and overnight stays might be required during seasonal peak periods like planting and harvest
Driver's License, and acceptable driving record.
Willingness to obtain appropriate pesticide applicator license/certification not required but an asset.
