We have an exciting opportunity for Field/Production Technician to join our company at our Lethbridge County, Alberta, Canada production facility. 

What You Will Do:

  • Work and interact directly with seed canola growers in the summer
  • Activities related to seed canola production, management of grower relations, supervision of planting
  • Perform tasks associated with harvest, conditioning and treat/packaging, some general repair and maintenance, as directed by supervisor
    • Harvest activities from receiving to storage
    • Conditioning activities such as cleaning and sizing, treating, and packaging, palletizing, wrapping, and sampling
    • Shipping/receiving, interplant movement, rework, warehousing, and inventory management of bagged and bulk seed, including the safe operation of forklifts
  • Compliance with Work Instructions and Quality Plan requirements
  • Complete and maintain appropriate records, documents, or reports such as quality, safety, grower, and inventory records
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • You have a High School Diploma/GED or higher level of education

What Skills You Need:

  • Previous knowledge and/or experience within production agriculture
  • You are willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: Climb and/or work in elevated areas, Stand, and sit for extended periods, work outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions, lift up to fifty (50) lbs., and perform work that involves repetitive motion and lifting
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision
  • You are comfortable with technology and possess good a computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and are willing and able to learn other company-specific applications as required  
  • You have high diligence can multitask, maintain an organized workplace, and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, reliability, work accuracy, and timeliness

  • You understand that delivering to our customers on time keeps us viable and are willing and able to work a rotating shift and overtime hours, which include nights and weekends during seasonal peaks to support production demand

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Two-Year Technical or Associates Degree in Agriculture, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with Canola
  • Experience in light industrial, manufacturing, seed cleaning and handling, or warehouse activities
