Corteva Agriscience is looking to hire a Farm Manager for our Waireka Research Center at Omata, just outside of New Plymouth. Corteva Agriscience is a world leader in protecting and preserving our food and helping agricultural communities thrive. Waireka Research Center is a globally recognized research facility that conducts field research for the evaluation and development of new crop protection and plant health products.
About the role
This is a practical role where you will be part of a dedicated research team providing support to other research and field based staff. In this role, you will be reporting to the Research Centre Leader, working alongside another farm manager you will have responsibilities for:
Fertilizer application, soil cultivation and crop drilling
Application of crop protection maintenance sprays using broadcast and high volume application equipment
Irrigation management
Orchard and Vine management including pruning, replanting and pest/disease management
General farm maintenance
Providing support to research scientists
Building, machinery and equipment maintenance
As a successful candidate you will have:
Proven experience in tractor driving as well as general farm machinery and equipment use
Experience in general farm agronomy or a related discipline
Excellent record keeping skills as well as basic IT skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
A strong Environmental, Health and Safety ethic and the ability to follow established safety operating procedures, policies and guidelines
A passion for the outdoors and be highly practical
Enjoy working with plants
A current drivers license
Excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a small team environment
This role is 40 hours/week and generally does not require weekend work.
