We are looking for an experienced Environmental Epidemiologist & Risk Assessor to join our Global Regulatory Sciences function at Corteva.  The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in epidemiology or a related discipline and have practical experience in conducting and/or interpreting environmental epidemiology studies.

This role is pivotal in shaping product safety and developing broad-based strategies related to environmental epidemiology, advancing human exposure science, and actively engaging with external scientific community. In addition to core responsibilities in environmental epidemiology, the position offers opportunities for hands-on involvement in human health risk assessment, contributing to integrated evaluations that support regulatory submissions and decision-making.

The position will ideally be based in Indianapolis, IN, USA. 

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of forward-looking strategies and frameworks to proactively address challenges and opportunities in epidemiology and human exposure data.
  • Product Safety: Develop product-specific strategies for human exposure and epidemiology, supporting regulatory submissions and safety assessments.
  • Monitoring Regulatory Developments: Stay abreast of external regulatory developments, scientific publications, exposure / biomonitoring activities, and assess their implications for Corteva's business.
  • Data Interpretation: Provide expert analysis and communication of findings from diverse study types, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders. Close partnership with biostatisticians will be key for developing robust scientific positions.
  • External Engagement: Lead and participate in scientific consortia focused on epidemiology and related disciplines. Collaborate with academic researchers, regulatory agencies, and industry partners to strengthen Corteva's credibility and visibility in the field.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build a broad understanding of adjacent technical disciplines that contribute to human safety, including toxicology and exposure sciences.
  • Expertise in Human Health Risk Assessment: Bring existing experience or demonstrate a strong interest in developing expertise in regulatory human health risk assessment, taking molecule responsibility and actively engaging in project teams. Develop a deep understanding of human exposure scenarios resulting from the use of our products, bridging exposure science and epidemiology to facilitate interpretation of epidemiological data.
  • Independent Operation: Demonstrate initiative, innovation, and the ability to operate autonomously while fostering key partnerships across internal and external networks.

What Skills You Need: 

  • MS or Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Exposure Science or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated practical experience in addressing environmental epidemiology, preferably within an industrial or other regulated environment. Experience in the Agrochemical industry is highly desirable.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment to deliver results against expectations on projects with challenging and dynamic timelines
  • Demonstrated track record of initiative, innovation, and independent problem-solving.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills; adept at organizing and presenting complex information
