We're hiring an EHS&S Specialist. 

JOB PURPOSE

 

Provide leadership and hands-on presence to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant workplace across the site, delivering outstanding EH&S performance and sustaining the License to Operate. 

Work in close partnership with Site Leadership to ensure all work processes and resources are in place, properly utilized and aligned to achieve excellent EH&S performance.

Partner with Site Leadership to ensure appropriate, consistent implementation and maintenance of EH&S work processes, best practices and most effective technologies; coordinate and align priorities and initiatives; audit the effectiveness of work processes and implementation; analyze performance data for trends and identify opportunities for improvement across the site. 

Provides hands-on Environmental, Industrial Hygiene (IH), Health, Safety and Process Safety support for the site. 

Planning 

  • Align personal EH&S objectives with functional and site strategies and priorities. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Site Leader to ensure plans are well communicated and supported. 

  • Assist Site Leader with providing environmental, IH, health, safety, process safety/containment, motor vehicle support and expertise to the site in a manner that is compatible with local issues and culture. 

  • Measure functional performance against goals, site expectations and work with Site Leader to develop improvement plans. 

Work Process / Improvement 

  • Implements / supports detailed, task level, hands-on, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work processes, standards and procedures. 

  • Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks / activities and acts as the area resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines, and standards. 

  • Supports delivery of required EH&S training. 

  • Analyzes and evaluates site EH&S performance to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.? 

  • Supports site compliance with Corporate EH&S Standards and Governmental Regulatory Requirements.  

  • Supports and monitors site self-assessment, audit, and regulatory compliance corrective action completion & validation. 

  • Supports site Process Safety and Containment work process implementation.  

  • Performs / facilitates all appropriate Industrial Hygiene program requirements, monitoring and health surveillance requirements. 

  • Supports site investigations of incidents, root cause analysis and follow-up action completion to prevent event re-occurrence.? 

  • Supports contractor safety management and related regulatory compliance. 

  • Assist site responses to EH&S / Emergency Response & Security (ER&S) issues and crisis.? 

  • Supports cost-effective delivery of EH&S and ER&S systems.? 

  • Responsible for field observations program and safety interventions including coaching of leaders and employees . 

  • Supports Site Management of Change (MoC) for EH&S matters as necessary. 

  • Links to EHS Specialist / EH&S CoE to obtain clear interpretations on site-specific regulatory processes, regulations, laws and associated procedures.  

  • As required, participates in the environmental, IH, health, and safety related reviews of capex projects.

  • Participate with and support Site Teams in order to drive EHS improvement and facilitate change.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE 

 

Requirement: 

  • Associate or Technology degree (2/3 yrs) in an applicable discipline is required; Professional certification where applicable 

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience, knowledge and skills in a manufacturing / industrial / R&D environment 

  • English language skills are mandatory

 

Knowledge, skill, and abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of all EH&S work processes, in addition to site operations and processes 

  • Aware of all regulatory, permit, and company requirements for the region, including audit requirements

  • Self-motivated independent thinker and performer 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and to set individual priorities  

  • Works methodically and meets required deadlines 

  • Well organized with an ability to work without supervision 

  • Capable consultation, facilitation, and influencing skills 

  • Excellent inter-personal relationship skills to all levels at the site 

  • Demonstrated open and clear communications and processes for issue resolution  

  • Excellent local language verbal and written communication skills  

  • Excellent training and presentation skills 

  • Ability to analyze technical writing and regulations   

  • Broad experience with computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database and training/presentation software
