Job Description:

Purpose

The Detailed Production Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing short-term production schedules to ensure reliable supply while balancing capacity, material availability, and operational constraints. This role serves as a critical link between Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, and Logistics to drive schedule adherence, inventory health, and service performance.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Creation & Execution

  • Develop and maintain daily production schedules across manufacturing sites.

  • Sequence production orders to ensure material readiness and operational feasibility.

  • Execute real-time schedule adjustments in response to supply, demand, or operational disruptions.

  • Own process order accuracy, release, closure, and alignment in SAP S4.

Exception Management & Issue Resolution

  • Identify, assess, and resolve supply exceptions impacting service, inventory, or production.

  • Communicate schedule risks and constraints to Production Planners and cross-functional partners.

  • Escalate issues with clear options, impacts, and recommended actions.

  • Support short-term mitigation planning.

LST & Short-Term Planning Ownership

  • Prepare and lead weekly Logical Supply Team (LST) meetings.

  • Validate schedules against S&OE and OBP inputs, capacity, and material constraints.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment on near-term feasibility and execution priorities.

  • Document decisions, risks, and follow-up actions.

Inventory & Performance Management

  • Monitor and maintain DPS KPIs including schedule attainment and inventory availability against inventory strategy.

  • Identify and coordinate rework or recovery plans for unhealthy inventory.

  • Support alignment between production schedules, raw materials, and distribution plans.

  • Track daily production performance and escalate risks impacting future plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Production Planning, Material Planning, Material Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Logistics.

  • Validate schedules and formally issue production schedules to LST stakeholders.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts across scheduling processes and tools.

Key Abilities

  • Ability to interpret and apply global work processes (e.g., OBP, S&OE).

  • Clear, confident communication across cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive problem-solving with a structured escalation approach.

  • Comfort working in ambiguity and adapting to changing constraints.

  • Continuous improvement orientation with willingness to challenge the status quo.

  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain fundamentals and manufacturing operations.

Tools & Systems

  • SAP S4 (Production Scheduling, Order Management)

  • OBP (Operational Business Planning)

  • Microsoft Excel and standard reporting tools

  • Collaboration platforms for LST execution and communication

     

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS certification experience considered a strong advantage.

  • 2-5 years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, supply planning, or related supply chain roles.
