Corteva has an exciting opportunity for a Cotton Breeding Scientist. The scientist will be responsible for planning and conducting a comprehensive cotton breeding research program which furthers the development of cotton varieties and associated research projects. The breeding program will be focused on delivering genetic gain through products that meet the needs of our customers and our business. The scientist will be expected to help develop and use a full suite of available technologies to accelerate the rate of genetic gain and build a sustainable breeding program. Work implies hands-on analysis, advanced breeding, training, and field activity.

What You'll Do:
Execute and run a breeding and genetics program that delivers superior cotton germplasm which provides performance improvements consistent with product development objectives.
"Hands-on" utilization and development of enabling breeding technologies in the implementation of the breeding program including precision phenotyping, molecular breeding, and information management.
Collaborate with internal scientific partners in the identification of key breeding targets, strategies and tools including the development and application of genomic selection breeding strategies and other technologies to enhance the breeding process.
Develop partnerships with the cotton breeding team and other colleagues in the development of strategies to deliver cotton products with superior performance in a cost-effective manner.
Facilitate information flow among cotton team members and other parts of the organization as necessary.
Interact with colleagues outside Corteva as required with emphasis on key universities.
Works under limited administrative/strategic direction.
Scientific leadership which ensures the collection of high-quality phenotypic data.
Contributes to leadership aspects of the Research Center activities through compliance with Core Values, safety and business/regulatory requirements
Clear communication with other scientists and staff as required for the success of all center activities
What Skills You Need:
PhD in plant breeding or plant genetics, with an emphasis in the areas of genetics and molecular genetics.
An independent, highly motivated, and self-directed scientist is required.
Comprehensive knowledge and applied research experience in plant genetics or plant breeding.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a proven ability to work well in a team environment.
Experience or familiarity with quantitative/population genetics, meta-analysis, genome wide prediction methods, and other digital breeding methods.
Experience with field research processes and phenotypic data analyses and utilization.
Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate experiments across locations and abilities to effectively share results across the organization are required.
Excellent personal interaction skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
