We are seeking a passionate and experienced scientist to lead a comprehensive corn breeding research program focused on yellow corn inbreds and hybrids. This role combines hands-on fieldwork, advanced breeding strategies, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-performing products that meet internal and external customer needs.
What You'll Do:
Design and lead a full-scale corn breeding program aimed at developing superior yellow corn inbreds and hybrids aligned with Corteva's product development goals.
Identify and address customer needs, both internal and external, through targeted breeding strategies and research initiatives.
Apply advanced breeding technologies and digital tools to enhance genetic gain and streamline product development.
Develop and implement novel methodologies for hybrid development and multi-trait selection.
Conduct hands-on field research, including planting, pollination, harvesting, and data collection, to support breeding decisions.
Analyze phenotypic and genotypic data to inform selection strategies and improve breeding outcomes.
Collaborate with other scientists and contribute to the leadership of the Research Center, ensuring alignment with Corteva's Core Values, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
Communicate research findings effectively across teams and stakeholders to support broader organizational goals.
What Skills You Need:
Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on genetics and data analytics preferred.
Applicants with relevant MS and 8+ years of plant breeding experience may also be considered.
Demonstrated ability to lead independent, innovative research in plant breeding or genetics.
Strong foundation in quantitative/population genetics, genome-wide prediction, and digital breeding methods.
Experience with field research operations and phenotypic data analysis is essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate complex experiments and share results across teams.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Must be comfortable working in varied ergonomic environments, including extensive fieldwork.
