Corteva is seeking to hire a Controlled Environment Specialist.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the operation of environmental controls in greenhouses, growth chambers and vertical chambers utilizing industry standard software systems (e.g. Argus).
- Support routine and preventive maintenance of controlled environment spaces in partnership with on-site maintenance & operations processes.
- The position requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, record keeping, and documentation.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrade and modernization projects including project planning, budgeting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Develop multi-generational plans for controlled environment data connections and utilization by evaluating existing sensors, probes, and other online monitoring capabilities. Conduct regular audits of climate systems.
- Communicate and summarize project results through documentation, and presentations.
- Work on multiple projects in a highly collaborative environment, including taking the lead on ideation and execution of team projects.
- Be available for weekend and off-hour system monitoring and participate in troubleshooting calls (~10% of the time).
What Skills You Need:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, horticulture, plant science, or a related field plus 1-5 years experience in controlled environment agriculture.
- Ability to work 100% on-site.
- Strong adherence to safety culture at Corteva.
- Mechanically savvy with strong verbal and written communication skills to train team members and interact at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility to perform work after hours or on weekends.
- Ability to work in a process environment that involves standing, bending, and reaching for 50% of the workday and occasionally lifting moderate weights (up to 50 lbs).
- A high level of independence and initiative.
Preferred Skills:
- 3 or more years of relevant greenhouse or horticulture experience.
- Experience leading infrastructure and capital projects.
- Experience working with automated systems.
- Familiarity with Argus, SCADA, and PLC systems.
