The Continuous Improvement Consultant will be responsible and accountable for identifying, supporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout their respective region's value chain. In this role, you will use your knowledge to execute and implement key initiatives to achieve identified metrics or goals that will support and meet the goals of Global Seed Operations.
The Continuous Improvement Consultant will be responsible for providing expert coaching on the full range of Lean & Six Sigma tools and methods (process improvement, design for Six Sigma and process management) to support implementation of strategies for Global Seed Operations to meet continuous improvement and productivity objectives in safety, cost, quality, reliability, and operational excellence.
While the team is primarily based in Johnston, Iowa, this position can sit fully remote with an expectation of approximately 25% travel.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build relationships across all levels of the organization, champion lean six sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with key Seed Operations stakeholders, for the delivery of results and establishment of a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead key continuous improvement events ensuring that clear goals, actions and expectations are established, tracked, communicated and realized.
- Facilitate teams through project activities by providing continuous improvement methodology expertise.
- Perform data analytics to drive fact-based decision making.
- Develop relationships with business partners to understand their strategic goals and objectives and their business functions to become a trusted partner on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop linkages to ensure alignment to the business' strategic goals and objectives and accountability regarding continuous improvement within the business community.
- · Assist the business in identifying continuous improvement opportunities and then working with them to scope/quantify the initiative to facilitate prioritization of projects.
- · Analyze and develop recommendations regarding failures and lost production, identify and implement solutions to improve the system, standard work and processes.
- · Deploy technology solutions considering overall safety standards, quality, capacity, reliability, production excellence, continuous improvement, environmental and costs constraints.
- · Implement and optimize production excellence processes and components.
- · Oversee the execution of measurement processes and monitor progress to identify variances and needed corrections.
- · Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Education, Industrial, Technical, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Technology, Statistics.
- Proven experience leading Lean Six Sigma projects achieving sustained benefits and cultural change.
- Knowledge and understand of multiple methodologies practice areas.
- Experience supporting implementation of strategies for manufacturing units to meet objectives in safety, cost, quality, productivity, customer service, and corporate ethics.
- Drive internal process excellence through identifying and leading targeted continuous improvement projects across business functions (R&D, Procurement, Service, IT, Manufacturing).
- Support the development of standardized processes/tools and provide training for the global lab automation business.
- Ability to translate highly technical information across all levels of technical knowledge
- Technical gap assessment and solution identification
- Project management experience
- Experience creating complex tests and analysis
- Lean Six Sigma certifications (Green or Yellow belt)
- Ability to travel domestically 25% of time
